Hadō #98 Gekimokusei Roteki

Description: There was much debate when Hadō 98 and 99 were being classified. Which one to go where? It was decided that although Gekimokusei Roteki had more widespread damage, the damage done by Goryūtenmetsu's more concentrated form was stronger. Thus, the current labeling. Gekimokusei Roteki is very much a "to whom is may concern" type of Hadō. It works by firing a beam of Reiryoku upwards. This acts as a targeting system for the rest of the Kidō. Once fired upwards, it disappears for one round. The next round, it appears again—aiming downwards. After reaching about 3,000 feet above the target, the beam then splits and continues to do so until it effectively looks like an inverted tree. By the end of the Kidō, an average-strength version will have split about 500 times in total. This saturates an area with powerful blasts of energy, with their trajectory being easily traceable if one notices what is happening. The blasts are solid, meaning they remain after impact. This gives it the feel of a glowing birdcage. The total area-of-effect is a two-mile diameter, centered on where the initial beam was fired. For obvious reasons, usage of this Kidō within the Seireitei or Rukongai is explicitly forbidden.
