Trained Abilities:

Kidō: Kaminari's skill with Kidō is because of a natural affinity with energy control. She understands the fundamentals of kido as well as any Lieutenant and passed the Kidō classes with flying colors. However, she's only really good at the basic Kidō, (around 1-20) but would love to learn more. She would have advanced further, but the person who trained her outside of the Academy was not as skilled in Kidō as Kaminari would have preferred. And since Shino Academy doesn't teach much beyond what is required to become a member of the Gotei Thirteen, she didn't get much more there.

Zanjutsu: Kaminari has no skill with Zanjutsu when using her own zanpakuto. This is because her shikai is an auto-release upon unsheathing and her shikai cancels out reiryoku, which is required for zanjutsu. Because of this, Kaminari will sometimes carry a second regular katana to use zanjutsu with. When using a regular sword, or the one she was gifted, she's actually very impressive with it. When she joined Shino Academy, her skill in the subject out shined even the advanced students.

Swordsmanship: Due to her zanpakuto abilities, Kaminari had to practice regular swordsmanship over everything else to ensure her survival. She couldn't focus on things like zanjutsu, hakuda, or kido because if she needed to use her own power, they were all useless to her and her opponents. So, even though there is no mechanical stat for the shinigami skill sheet, Kaminari's swordsmanship skill will be her zanjutsu + 15.

Hakuda: After years of focusing on her swordsmanship only to realize that her zanpakuto kind of messes that up, Kaminari had to switch things up. Thanks to some well-timed advice, Kaminari began to focus more on her hand-to-hand combat skills in order to fight without relying mostly on her zanpakuto. She still has much to learn, but she has gained a nice handle on hakuda and plans on pushing her Captain into some one-on-one training to increase it more.

Hoho: To Kaminari, the only thing Hoho exists for is shunpo. Other people can take advantage of the other techniques. Shunpo is the one, like many other Shinigami, that she has focused her skills on. She has discovered that her long-distance shunpo travel is really good, but any short distance movement has her running face first into walls and sliding to stops. If she's in open enough terrain, she can take advantage of the sliding, but it has proven to be a problem on multiple occasions, especially when she trips and falls on her behind.

Shikai Name: Haiiro no Ryōiki (灰色の領域, Gray Area)

Shikai Appearance: Kaminari's zanpakuto is not a permanent release zanpakuto, but it is an instant release. The moment she pulls her sword from the sheath, it takes this shape and the shikai abilities automatically take place. However, for the full distance, it must be fully pulled from the sheath. If only partially pulled out, it's 50% shorter at 125ft, instead of 250.


Shikai Abilities: Haiiro no Ryōiki, also called The Gray Area, is a spherical area surrounding Kaminari's zanpakuto that reaches out for two hundred feet in all directions. Within this area, Kaminari's shikai instantly nullifies, dissolves, and eats away all energy, including anything Kaminari may exert. Anything based off of energy cannot be used by Kaminari or anyone else in the sphere; such as zanjutsu, hakuda, kido, hoho, bala, cero, and much more.

Those within this area will have their natural skill sheet impacted. The skills agility, durability, endurance, speed, and strength will all take a -18 penalty within this sphere. Kaminari, however, only takes a -10 due to it being her own power. This does mean that training inside her shikai will grant others the ability to negate some impact, but the negation will never be better than her own. So, for every completed true training or combat thread with Kaminari's shikai active for at least five rounds of posting, a person will lessen the impact of her shikai to all skills by 1, but this only goes to a maximum of 10. Kaminari can train to a maximum of 15.

Releases, such as shikai and bankai, are instantly sealed in her shikai.

Things role players must keep in mind: This sudden change in physical stats is not something a body can just easily accept. The feeling is sickening to everyone that is not used to training under these circumstances. Kaminari will be fine. Other characters will be off balance, have trouble with what normally comes naturally to them, and things like their coordination and will reaction times will be off. It's like suddenly having heavy weights attached to your ankles and wrists while also having been punched in the stomach after not eating for two days. Take in mind that this also means unnatural healing can't occur, for anyone, friend or foe. This goes for bankai too.

Bankai Name: Teiden (停電, Blackout)
Bankai Appearance: N/A No Change
Bankai Abilities: Kaminari's bankai, Teiden, also called Blackout, is a five mile radius (ten mile diameter) spherical area surrounding Kaminari's unsheathed zanpakuto. Within this area, there is absolutely no ability to use any energy and everyone, excluding Kaminari herself, gets a penalty to their natural skill sheet. The skills: Agility, Durability, Endurance, Speed, and Strength all take a -28 penalty (to a minimum of 5). Anything like hakuda, zanjutsu, kido, bala, cero, hoho or other energy based techniques can't be used, meaning a Shinigami's, Vizard's, or Arrancar's zanpakuto cannot be released. If already released, they're instantly sealed as long as they're in range.

Like Kaminari's shikai, one can train within her bankai to negate some of the impact it has on the natural skill sheet. However, this does not stack with the training in her shikai. For every completed true training or combat thread with Kaminari's shikai active for at least five rounds of posting, a person will lessen the impact of her bankai to all skills by 1.

Character Synopsis: Kaminari trained with Kanna Hanashiro in the Mikazuki, who was once the Lieutenant of the Third Division, for six years as an attempt to avoid Shino Academy. Captain Arishima made her enter the Academy anyway, but she only took four years to complete it. During this time, she figured out she was using some of her abilities wrong and had to adjust her fighting style. She originally trained with her sword, as a zanjutsu main, but had to switch to Hakuda so her shikai wouldn't get in the way too much. Now, as the Lieutenant of the Eighth Division, Kaminari is dedicating her life to saving people from the horrors she faced.
