She is an average Lieutenant who keeps herself behind a desk most of the time because that is where she excels. Haruna also has a knack for helping other shinigami learn to understand where their strength lies. This is why she became a teacher. In battle, her strategy is to wait her opponents out, allowing them to waste energy and resources while she conserves it. Most of her power is in technique, not physical ability.

Shikai Abilities: Upon activation, Haruna's zanpakuto turns into a thick durable root that plants itself in the ground. Fifteen vines grow from the root, each lined with dagger-like thorns. The vines can be used as whips or for grappling. When the thorns cut or pierce the skin, a poison they produce gets into the blood of her opponent, causing the following effects: -2 durability and strength per round for 5 rounds. When struck again, the effects do not stack, but the duration is reset. Upon sealing this shikai, the poison does not vanish and continues until the duration is up. If the root is destroyed, her shikai is sealed, but it's durability is equal to hers x2.

Character Synopsis Beautiful, but unworthy. After losing her first love to the laws of nobility, Haruna's ego took a huge blow. She is a woman who oozes confidence, but this false bravado only hides deeply rooted insecurities. Crippled by self-doubt, Haruna has given up on ever advancing beyond her current place. While some see her current level as an accomplishment, seeing the lives her old friends live tells her that she has fallen way behind. She has convinced herself she is happy where she is at and that teaching future generations is enough for her.
