»Zanjutsu Specialist: Xiang Fei's greatest asset is her training within Zanjutsu. As a Shinigami, her primary form of combat is with her zanpakuto, and given how she has no discernible skill with Kido, she usually relies on her physical attributes to be trained even further. She is known in the 9th Division as one of the most savage, yet skillful, Zanjutsu users to pass through Gotei in a millennia. Though far from at her peak and without a doubt outclassed by captains who specialize in their usage, she is consistently training this skill, and will seek out any opportunity to advance it further. In the ninth division, she has received the nickname "Jiàn dìyù (剑地狱), the sword inferno".

»Hakuda Trained: If not fighting with her Zanpakuto, Xiang Fei is trained in the usage of her body to physically overwhelm opponents. If she is somehow disarmed, she will often turn to a deep understanding of martial arts, deep versed many Chinese, East Asian, and Shinigami specialize hakuda. This means that her body is not only swift, but can pack a tremendous force behind her small frame when applying her reiatsu correctly.

»Strong Willed: Though she lacks any natural defenses and shielding abilities, Xiang's greatest defense lays in her ability to push on through normally overwhelming mental exhaustion. So while her physical durability might be average at best, her ability to push on past mental barriers is a great asset in her durability as a whole.

»Hohou Skilled: Her agility is far from mediocre, and though her strength and sword fighting is her most physical attribute, her shunpo skill is quite advanced. Though she is agile and quick, her strength in houhou isn't her greatest asset, and mostly takes the form of her attack speed over general movement.

»Deep reiatsu pool: For a vice-captain, her pool of reiatsu is actually considered quite deep. This gives her quite a bit of stamina, and allows her to be a rather fearsome opponent to try outlast.

».Kidou inept: Xiang has very minimal concept of Kido. Every single time she has tried, not only has it blown up in her face (literally), but it's fizzled out and done more damage to her than the target. As a result, this also makes her Kaido inept as well, relying on primitive means of healing.

Xiang Fei's Shikai makes a few small alterations to her appearance, most notably her hair seems to glow a orange, yellow and red hue similar to the flames that now surround her feet and giant sword. Her Jian now has turned into a giant sword with a bladed, red hot edge that is now pitch black, but has the edge coated in a thick red flame that licks up the handle.


»Shikai Abilities: Xiang gains a few different abilities in her shikai.

• » Róngdiǎn (Melting Point): When an object or person is cut by Shìjiè mòrì, the melting point of said object is significantly lowered. This means that if a rock, metal or object were to be sliced by her blade, the natural high-temperature flame coating her blade would quickly bring the melting point of that area to a point where her fire will begin to melt it into a liquid state. This is most usable on things like steel, even super-heating it to a point where it is considered molten metal. When slicing a person, unless outweighed in reiatsu, their skin will not only find a lingering flame, but will see it begin to spread and burn at a much faster rate than what is normally possible. Her zanpakuto promotes swift response, and if you can remove that fire quick enough, you may receive only minor burns alongside the cut from her blade. This does not work as fast against other zanpakuto, unless making continuous contact and creates an indent/slice into the sword itself. This can be overcome by taking defensive measures to avoid the blade actually piercing skin or object, as well as lessening the impact by expelling a higher amount of reiatsu.
  
  
• » Huǒ zhī shìjiè (World of Fire): Around her body, the temperature is raised by a significant amount. Being close enough to touch her skin would be sweltering, almost as if standing next to a furnace. This not only naturally melts ice or similar melt-able constructs, but can even dehydrate people in her presence for too long. Though the area can be cooled, the air around her is said to raise by 30 degrees Celsius (86f), but begins to dissipate, eventually turning to normal temperatures just 20 meters from her body.
  
  
• » Jiàn wǔ (剑舞, Blade Dance): For a few seconds, she can mimic a sword of fire with the left hand that is encircled with flame. For about two seconds at a time, she can summon a replica blade of fire, identical to her Zanpakuto, but purely made of fire. This can be done every two posts, and only one sword can be summoned at a time.

Not only does her appearance change once again (as pictured), but her height now shifts to being that of 6'6, towering over many foes and much larger than most of her comrades.

• » Dìyù huǒ jìngjì chǎng (地狱火竞技场, Hellfire Arena): Though her fire is contained to the confines of her zanpakuto and body in bankai, this doesn't mean she can't expel it into her surroundings if need be. A far cry from her explosive skill, Xiang Fei is able to supercharge her foot and slam it into the earth, revealing a near 300 meter wide arena of fire that traps both her and the opponent. This could be comparable to Byakuya's "Senkei", except instead of swords, is like a net of fire connected from four pillars of flame in the battlefield. These flames repel and aim to trap opponents in the arena, but can be extinguished if the temperature is lowered to a point of freezing, or the pillars are otherwise destroyed, removing the foundations for this arena outright. As her fire takes on hellfire traits, they are much harder to extinguish as a result. She cannot keep her opponent trapped in here while she fights elsewhere however, the moment she exits, the arena will fall around her and fade from existence. For as long as they are fighting in this arena, a metaphysical chain of fire is attached to each person, but does not inhibit movement. The temperature gradually raises and eventually ends up at a smoldering 90c (194f), enough to quickly dehydrate and tire most people by simply being present. This, however, is something she is not immune to. Though it is her ability, the arena puts both of them on a timer -- and whoever cannot conserve their energy properly before succumbing to fatigue wins. This is best against people on her level, as people in a tiers above her will have a deeper pool of energy to rely on and conserve, unless used recklessly.
  
  
• » Nóngsuō bàozhà (浓缩爆炸, Condensed Explosion): Her body not only now internalizes her fire-wielding nature, but her skin becomes so hot that it is near unbearable to touch. The surface of her skin, as well as Zanpakuto she wields, is raised to 600 degrees Celsius (1112f). This does not actually effect the world around her though, up until the point of contact, the temperature remains normal, it is simply her body surface temperature increasing. By applying a thin layer of reiatsu to the edge of her skin, she can create small condensed explosions in the area she has chosen. By drawing on more energy, she is capable of turning herself into a living bomb that explodes outwards from all over her body, taking that surface temperature and exploding it outwards. Due to being the center of this explosion, if used over her entire body, she will not receive a knock back or damage, as she is the center point -- the explosion itself starting the moment it leaves her skin. At maximum, this explosion could cover three hundred meters at the cost of all her energy. On a smaller scale, Xiang Fei will grasp an opponent and burn them by touch, and then supercharge her hand or Zanpakuto to create a compressed explosion around that limb. Her body naturally rejects this heat, making her resistant to her own close-range blasts.
  
  
• » Chūxiě biānyuán (出血边缘, Bleeding Edge): Bleeding Edge is activated upon cutting an opponents body, or directly coming into contact with a source of reiatsu. The moment it slices into skin, the blade absorbs a small portion of reiatsu from her opponent and is applied to the blade itself. On her next attack, not only will the swing release a wave of super-hot fire in an arc, but it will activate her previous melting point ability, allowing her to melt and slice through nearly any object it comes into contact with. It has the same limitations as her shikai's melting point. The strength of this ability is dependent on how large the wound is, as the larger the wound = larger contact and absorption of reiatsu. This means if she has a direct access to a pool of reiatsu and kept her blade cut into it, it could theoretically absorb giant amounts of reiatsu and allow her next attack to be near catastrophic. As most people won't allow themselves to be continuously injured and drained of energy, this is typically only done with small bursts.
  

Xiang Fei is a woman of loyalty, and though she spent many of her days hunting for someone to give her a rush and challenge in swordsmanship, she eventually settled upon following the Captain of the Ninth Division, Mifune. As he was dubbed as the "sword god" of the Gotei, she heavily requested she be placed in his division to gain more insight into Zanjutsu training. Though loyal to the Gotei, her early days were somewhat empty. She had died at quite a young age, and spending most of her life as a spirit, she is still searching for the Shinigami who saved her from a Hollow and performed kensei to send her to Soul Society. This is part of the reason she joined the division dedicated to policing and overseeing the Rukongai districts; having spent most of her life there, she felt a connection and obligation to protect it. Her reason for becoming a shinigami was closely tied to her youthful experiences, but not only to find the man who saved her soul many hundreds of years ago, but because it was an escape from the chaos she had ensued as life. She now dedicates her life to bettering not only the realms as a whole, but Rukongai especially. Xiang Fei is fluent in Chinese, has conversational Japanese speaking and reading skills, while she is completely perplexed by English and cannot grasp it and continues to not try.
