Trained Abilities: Izumi Fujioka is a woman that was so good at her job that when she vanished, there was a strange rift in the Gotei 13 for some time. Not only had she been there for centuries, but she had known, trained, saved, and guided many to the places they are now. There was a time that being trained by Izumi Fujioka was an honor and privilege that everyone else would ask about. "How'd you get her to train you?" "What's she actually like?" The reason that this explanation of Izumi is needed for her trained abilities section is to help the understanding of her skill and reputation. She is easily considered a master in her skill set, but her actual energy level is not as high as you'd think. She has often been described as so overly-efficient in her usage of reiryoku that she could take on shinigami levels above her in that aspect without much of a hassle.

Kido: This is her highest skill above everything else. She is well-versed in all kido, including those considered forbidden. One of her most notable accomplishments was when she discovered how to cast kido without an incantation. She got so good with Byakurai that she can now cast it just by snapping her fingers, similar to Mustang in Full Metal Alchemist. It is not difficult to say that Izumi is one of the most skilled shinigami in kido. However, she isn't one to come up with her own kido. Izumi is someone who chooses to advance the knowledge she has available to her.

Hoho: Izumi is above average in both strength and speed, but her skill in the actual technique of Hoho is that of an expert. Though she did not create any of the Hoho techniques, she's mastered ones like Senka, Utsusemi, and the Speed Clone techniques. With these mastered, it is obvious that she has also mastered the flash-step, as it is one of the most important shinigami tools to know how to use, even in everyday life.

Zanjutsu: Izumi's skill with a sword is just as high as her skill in Hoho. Just like with Hoho, she did not create any of the techniques that lay under the subject, but she has mastered just about all of them. Izumi is very much about mastering technique and in order to create a fighting style that worked in conjunction with her zanpakuto's power, she chose swordsmanship over hand-to-hand to work on. She is able to combine zanjutsu with her zanpakuto's sealed powers, giving her quite the edge over her opponents.

Hakuda: Izumi's skill with hand-to-hand combat is about average in comparison to other Lt./Captain level shinigami. It is not her first choice in battle, but if she needs to, she can do enough to defend herself. She has not mastered many hakuda techniques, but she is aware of most of them and does use them with the skill of a casual practitioner.

Kaido: Healing kido is not something she's very good at. Her reiryoku is more destructive and so does not have the same capabilities for healing that others do. She can do some very minor healing, but it's usually emergency aid to make sure someone doesn't die so the professionals can get there. Anything beyond that is out of her league.

Shikai Abilities:

Izumi's shikai gives her the ability to create ice and use it for offensive and defensive abilities. All abilities Izumi has are listed below:

1) High Cold Resistance: The area around Izumi, from the moment her shikai becomes active, lowers in temperature by 35 degrees. Izumi can stand in an area below freezing and not be affected by it at all. However, areas above sixty degrees make her feel uncomfortable and anything above eighty degrees is considered too hot.

2) Ice Spikes: Izumi can shoot spikes of ice from her zanpakuto, whether in the form of a beam by shooting from the tip, or in the form of a wave by swinging her blade. If in the form of a beam, it shoots in the way of a machine gun, in a continuous flow. If in the form of a wave, it is like a shot gun, controlled bursts in the shape of a crescent moon.

3) Ice Mirror: Izumi can create different sized blocks of ice that are able to repel incoming energy attacks. Energy attacks the hit the mirror are sent flying back the instant they touch the mirror. This can also be used as a basic shield from physical attacks, but has no extra effect. The size varies from 5x5ft up to twenty times that size.

4) Iced Blade: Izumi's iced blade instantly covers anything that it cuts with ice. In doing so, it freezes over the area and prevents most blood loss. However, for every successful cut that Izumi has made the target's speed and endurance are lowered by 3 points.

Bankai Name: Ekken-shitsu (謁見室, Throne Room)
Bankai Appearance:

Bankai Abilities: Izumi activates her bankai by pointing it straight up. Four large iced spiked rapidly form and then shoot out to four corners two hundred feet away from Izumi. Once she calls for her bankai, anyone within that two hundred foot range of Izumi is drawn into her inner world. Izumi can make this smaller if she wishes, but the two hundred feet is her actual max. For every person drawn into Izumi's inner world, she gains a +5 to each of her physical skills. This does include friends and enemies.

Since this is in her inner world, whoever is drawn in may also have to fight her zanpakuto spirit as well, always giving Izumi a companion to fight by her side. All abilities from her shikai can be used in bankai, but any number values from shikai are doubled. For example, her iced blade now penalizes her enemies -3 to speed and endurance per successful cut and her Ice Mirror can be up to 200x200 feet max.

Character Synopsis

There is a lot of mystery that comes with this woman. Once a powerful Captain of the Gotei Thirteen, Izumi was considered to be the epitome of a perfect Shinigami. She was the one that other women looked up to because female Captains were not the most common thing. About two thousand years ago, this beauty left her post and now travels in and out of the Soul Society, Hueco Mundo, and World of the Living at her own whim. Only in the last few years has Izumi made her reappearance, but only to members of the Mikazuki who obviously do not know her origins. She now works among them, fighting for their cause out of boredom and little else. Their cause isn't something she actually believes in. Who can blame her when she's lived such a long and eventful life?
